My Shodo Philosophy

" SHO wa WA nari "
* SHO is to be Peace *, Calligraphy is to lead you Peace
It is an old Japanese proverb.

This is always my principal motto for doing and learning SH ODO, the way of Japanese calligraphy.
That was the essence which kept me doing Shodo,
and fascinated me all the way still now.

Even as a 5 years old child, I felt amazingly transparent a nd harmonious
yet free each time I was doing calligraphy, no matter which state of mind I was.
And then I found out that more I concentrated,
the better the brush flowed, and more peaceful I became.

This is for me the most sensational aspect of SHODO learnin g.
I try to come cross this essence to every student of mine a nd remind them of it every session.

Nowadays we tend to see only the result, or pure technical improvements and materialistic rewards.
However - a sense of deep peace in you is much more valuabl e and
essential to learn Shodo
and improve further the way of calligraphy.
